Audience – Who and where are you?

Posted by Mr Mitchell | Posted in General News | Posted on 25-04-2016

Please spare one moment to leave this Year 5 class a quick comment telling them who and where you are. Once the pupils understand that they have a global audience for their writing, they will use their blog from outside of school to write about things that interest them. Any comment left will be checked before being approved and the pupils will be encouraged to reply later in the afternoon.

Many thanks,
DeputyMitchell

Campfire Fun in Forest Schools!

Posted by Annabelle | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

Year 5 class have just had their last forest schools of this term! But we finished off with a bang -literally as we had popcorn and other tasty treats such as cinnamon apples, fruit toast and toasted marshmallows- it was  so yummy! Mrs Blackhurst showed us what we needed to make a perfect fire.
  1. A source of heat  ( flint and steel or a lighter)
  2. Oxygen
  3. A place to put the flame on ( cotton wool and dried wood)
I had a lot of fun as we all had a go at using flint and steel. It was great and a terrific way to end forest schools!

Gold swimming

Posted by Isabella | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

On the 16th of July i did my gold at swimming. There were six people doing it we also all had to go in the same lane at YMCA  swimming pool. It is so hard to do but i made it . First we had to  do sculling to the door but head first and then do a 360 turn and then do feet first sculling. After that,we had to do two lengths of the pool doing front crawl and the we had to do two lengths of breast stroke. Then we did treading water with one hand up for a minute and then swap hands and put it up for a minute. My swimming teacher called Joanne told one by one to go and do 32 lengths  of the pool you had to do four lengths of front crawl & breast stroke & back stroke . You had to do this pattern intill you get up to 24 and then you can do your own stroke i did breast stroke and front crawl. You had to  get the 32 lengths in 25 mins  but i did 23.46 mins. It was hard but fun. I passed. The next day my dad did the irenman and he made it so i was proud of him he had to do swimming, ciyling and running.

A description of a planet.

Posted by Alicia | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

Here is a paragraph

There it is Mars. I now need to get the crew out of this spacecraft. One by one we were all out. My first step on Mars felt weird. It felt like quick sand but I wasn’t sinking at all. Quickly, we saw everything. I thought the of lava looked liked UFO ‘s. The crew’s favourite was the creamy milky way. Running all over the place were exotic animals! Now I wish a brought a scientist with me.  Because it could tell me all the breeds of these exotic animals.

A STRANGE SIGHTING!

Posted by Annabelle | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

When I was in a park there was a massive field were I played with some friends and we saw something very strange indeed you could say that it was a strange sighting. As I was racing to find somewhere to play, I noticed people in in armor clutching shields and offering passers by to battle them. At first I thought that the weapons that they were holding were made of plastic but the were really made of steel! It was rather scary and I hoped that I wasn’t asked! Luckily I wasn’t it was very strange indeed!

Fun Forest Schools!

Posted by Annabelle | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

Over the past 3 weeks Year 5 have been attending forest schools. To begin we were separated into groups Group one and Group two I was placed in group one. On the first week we made bunting to make it we gathered together plants and flowers and placed them on a cloth finally – BASH! We smashed the flowers so the juices from them imprinted on to the bunting. On the second week we went by the pond and began to clean it out and spot tadpoles and other pond life. On the most recent week ( week three) we whittled elder wood. At  the end – before we went back to class – we had free time to build dens, make mud pies and other fun things to do with the outdoors. I can’t wait  until next week with the campfire it will be so fun! I really enjoy doing it thank you Mrs Blackhurst.

A whole new planet!

Posted by Annabelle | Posted in General News | Posted on 19-07-2016

Here is a small section of my description of a planet:
Scarlet dust floated up as her space boots landed with a loud thud! Floating dust revealed a yellow under surface. The dust covered her vision for a while due to it’s thickness. Once the dust went, Susan heard whispering noises that echoed around the planet. This made her nervous but not afraid – just nervous. Further on she wandered and she spotted that she almost began to sink. Down and down she went. Luckily enough, a sturdy ( yet mysterious ) metal pole seemed to almost grow out from the dusted – but not crater filled – ground and pulled herself out. Good job she was prepared with her space suit or it could have been more serious. BEEP! BEEP! Sinking did not help her oxygen tanks at all. So she looked around for a place to keep safe and fix them. She suddenly saw a crystal cave appear out of thin air. I t was almost as if whenever she needed something to help her it appeared instantly. Wandering over towards the cave, Susan heard strange bubbling noises. Planets were getting stranger and stranger these days – especially this one- she thought to herself.
I  hope that you enjoyed it!

My story!!!

As I leaped out od the old, blue space ship( that I had been in for hours). I scanned the unusual planet. An immense darkness weighed over me  as I took  my first step. Blue and yellow stripes flew through my mind. Then I saw a yellow shooting star- so incredible to imagine- it drifted through the distance. It exploded. Out came  stunning  colours ruby red, basic blue and golden yellow. Suddenly, it sank deep into turquoise river as blue as the ocean.

Fun with Mrs Blackhurst!

The last few sessions with Mrs Blackurst  has been really fun. Most of  us have been doing den building. Once you’ve built a den some one from forest school tips water on the den to see if it is waterproof. On are first session when we built dens my groups den wasn’t waterproof. When Roman was still in it collapsed! It was quite funny. I can’t wait till next week. It’ll be so fun! I hope all the groups have a good time. If you do please tell me. In year 6 I think we are doing it. On the last forest schools me and Oscar Holmes made a mini TP.

On a Wednesday or Tuesday Year 5 take part in forest schools with Mrs blackhurst. We love going out and making dens, going to the pond and making mud pies. My favourite so far is making dens because when we have made it we get Mrs Blackhurst to get a lot of water and chuck it over the den to see if it water proof , my other favourite thing is painting sticks to make dominoes. I really enjoy learning and going out and having fun. I really hope we do it next year with Mrs Blackhurst!!

Fun Activities With KGS

1

Posted by Oscar H | Posted in General News | Posted on 29-06-2016

On Tuesday 28th year 5 went to Kirkham Grammar We arrived and got into are groups pink, yellow, orange, green, blue and red. My favorite activate was the mole run game I enjoyed it because I was very quick at finding the path to the end It was very annoying when I had to go back to the start. I also enjoyed the obstacle race because it really is tiring when you have to go down and touch all the cones it strains your arms and then you have to hop across the bench. then you have to hop over the herdals and run back.

I found out that most of the games that we needed not one person to do all the work but everyone had to work hard if they wanted to win and get a prize. I really liked our team leaders. They were fun and likeable  I really enjoyed the trip to Kirkham Grammar and would like to go again thank you to KGS for a fabulous trip. But in the end  the pink team came third the green team came second and the yellow group won a KGS teddy bear for coming first.

I really enjoyed it, and hope that I could go back and do it again thank you to KGS.

A trip to Kirkham Grammar

Posted by Annabelle | Posted in General News | Posted on 29-06-2016

On the 28th of June Year 5 class of Hall Park Primary School went to Kirkham Grammar. To begin we were separated into groups: Red, Orange, Green, Blue, Pink and Yellow. I along side Eleanor L, Amie, Freya, Hazem and George was in the red group. Our group leaders, who were in forth year of high school, were called Megan and Ted.

To start off the afternoon, we began by drawing around different parts of our body I had my head drawn around. Then Hazem had his body drawn around Freya and Eleanor’s had their hands and arms drawn around and finally for the legs George and Amie. We also did Planks where you had to get across the ground and us and the wooden planks weren’t allowed to touch the ground only craters could which was extremely hard to do. We also participated in a game that was like hurdles and obstacle races as well as many other fun games. My  favourite activity was the drawing game I liked this game because I enjoy drawing and it was good fun to do and also seeing the turn out of the other groups creations was great. We also got juice and a Kit Kat in-between all of the games.

I had a fabulous time and learnt that I am good at listing to other people and that I am okay not always having my chance to be a leader and that it can be nice to give others a chance at leading. Groups won prizes but our group didn’t but I don’t mind because I had a great time anyway. If I had the chance to go again I would definitely go again.

It was Tuesday 28th June when the year 5 class of Lytham Hall Park Primary school went to Kirkham Grammar. When we got there, we were separated in to six different groups: Red, Green, Blue, Pink, Orange and Yellow. I, followed by Annabelle, Amie, George, Freya and Hazem, were in the Red group. Our leaders, who were Fourth years, were called Megan and Ted.

The first activity we did was drawing. We had to draw a human body using all of us.Me and Freya did an arm each, Amie and George did a leg each, Hazem did the body and Annabelle did the head. The second activity we did was Hoops in a circle. Basically we got in a circle holding hands and two people had a hoop on there hands. It went round one way and we had to get the hoop over our heads to the other person without using our hands. My favorite was the lazer beams. There were two poles which had three strings. Someone had to go under, someone had to go over and th rest of the team had to go through the midle without touching the strings. It was my favorite because I was the one who went over.

I learnt to work well in a team and that working in a team is fun. I loved it there and I want to go back.

Kirkham Grammar School Visit!

Posted by Tess | Posted in General News | Posted on 29-06-2016

On Tuesday 28th June, we went to Kirkham Grammar Senior School. When we got there we had to go in our six groups, In my team there was me (Tess),Laura, Ross, Syd, Ethan and Ava. We all got to meet our leaders and then we started to do our activities, my first game was Shepherd and Sheep where there are obstacles around the room and there are two Shepherd’s and four sheep’s, the sheep’s are blind folded and the Shepherd directs you into the pen.

Our second game, was the code game where we had to guess what the code is then go on the rubber mats whilst our team mates are shouting which way to go to break the code,(it was really good fun, I recommend that game very, very much.

Our third game, was where we had to go through these ropes one person went under which was Laura and she didn’t touch the rope and Ava, me (Tess), Ethan and Syd went under but before we went through, Ava was the only one who went through because we had to lift Ross over before we went through (that was my favourite game)!!

I would like a really big thank you to our leaders and to all the year 10s.

Once year 5 got of the coach they went in this room and a lady  told us  what we would be doing. My group was yellow.

Our group started by bashing the mole and that is when you try and do a sequence. if you got it wrong you had to go  to the beginning again and the whole team had to get over to the other  side doing  the same sequence. The  next one  we did was   someone needed to go under some one needed to be lift over and the rest of us went through. I went through. Then we had to draw different peoples  body parts drawn  and colour the different body  parts. We also did  this game were you have to get all the metirals over other side but body can not touch the floor. Then we played a game called sheep and shepherds.

The activities that we did  were called shepherds and sheep in that game two people were blind folded and I had to lead them round a maze into a hut. There was loads of other games but…            my favorite game was the obstical and in the you had to touch one cone and then another next you had to  jump from one side to another on a bench then jump 4 times then run back to the line.

Year 5’s trip to Kirkham Grammar School.

Posted by Megan | Posted in General News | Posted on 29-06-2016

On Tuesday the 28th  of June Year 5 went on a trip to Kirkham Grammar School for some fun. What we did was we played some games with two people from Year 10. The people that I worked with were called Claire and Tom, they were extremely fun! In my group there were six people including me, they were Oscar H, Oscar S, Alicia, Joseph, Euan and me.

The first game that we played was called Crates and Planks the aim of the game was to get all of the crates and planks across to the other side as well as our self to get a point so I think it was similar to move that mat. I thought it was quite challenging because i was the last person to cross so i had to try and reach the crates with a very small plank but at the same time as it being challenging i thought it was very fun. The second game that we played was called Shepherds and Sheep the aim of that game was to get all of the sheep into the pen, so two people were the shepherds then all of the other people were sheep all of the sheep were blindfolded and the shepherds had to lead all of the sheep into the pen just by voice. I found that game quite easy. Next we played quite a tricky game because there was a map that we weren’t aloud to see so we had to guess and if we stepped on the wrong mat we had to go back to the beginning luckily every time we played it I got it correct! After that it was a really really fun game because we had to get everyone across to the other side of the ropes with out touching them. Someone had to go over so Joseph and Oscar S through him over the top I went under the ropes and everyone else went through the gap at the side. Last of all we did a drawing game where we had to draw around somebody but each part of the body had to be a different person and as well as that we had to colour each part of the body a different colour. Ours looked ridiculous!

So far out of the day my favourite activity has been Planks and Crates because it was challenging and fun at the same time! We had a little break (which included a kitkat and a drink).

In the second half of the afternoon we played some more games but against another team. We were against the Blue team. First, we played Domes and Dishes it’s exactly the same as what we play at school where the dishes are a an upside down cone and the domes are cones the right way up. Next, we played human noughts and crosses. My team (pink) were the crosses and the blue team were the noughts we won the game because we kept on getting diagonal lines which get you extra points. Then we played under and over then dribble the ball to the cone and shoot. I scored every time! At the end of the day we did an obstacle race where all of the teams competed against each other. We came 3rd. What we did was we had to touch all of the cones then we had to step into the hoop and put it over your head, we then had to hop over the bench and jump over the hurdles the run back over to your team and sit down.

Team building at Kirkham Grammar

0

Posted by Amie | Posted in General News | Posted on 29-06-2016

On Tuesday the 28th of June, Year five went on a team building event at Kirkham Grammar. We worked in teams and for the first half we kept swapping activities and we had 10 minutes to complete each one.

In the second half we did a football challenge, human naughts and crosses and we played domes and dishes. I had a really good time. One of my favourite events was when one of us had to go under the string and one of us had to go over the string and the rest of us had to go through the middle, but if one of us touched the string, all of our team would have to start again. I went under the string and Eleanor went over – it was really fun lifting her over and at the end we did limbo.

In the middle of the afternoon, we had juice and biscuits. Going to Kirkham was a great experience! My team was the red team. Our team had me, Eleanor, George , Annabelle, Freya and Hazem, and we had a great time and I learnt that our team worked very well together. Our team leaders were called Megan and Ted.
